Philip Treacy Hat Designer

I asked Philip Treacy…

“What top tip would you give to women wanting to be the best version of themselves?

“A hat is a positive symbol.

A good hat is the ultimate glamour accessory.

A hat can completely change the personality of the wearer, make them stand differently and walk differently.

A hat can make that person feel interesting.

People think sometimes that people who wear hats want to show off.

But human beings, since the beginning of time, have always wanted to embellish themselves.  So hats have been around since the year dot.

It’s a human thing to want to dress every part.

Hats are meant to be for everyone.

It’s a very potent part of the body to decorate because, when you meet people for the first time, you are not meeting their foot or their hand or their hip, you are meeting their face.

The purpose is to enhance the features of the face.

It’s also a cheaper alternative to cosmetic surgery!”

I Love You…

I’m just going to say the thing you’re not supposed to say…

I love you… but I love me more.

I’ve been in a relationship with myself for 49 years and that’s the one I need to work on.

Samantha Jones – Sex and the City

I love this quote because I’m all about understanding and improving the relationship you have with yourself… and I will use any excuse to quote Samantha Jones. I mean it was unlikely I’d ever get to work her classic saying of dicklicious’ into a blog post!

So this February make a declaration of love to yourself.

Buy yourself something (flowers and/or heart shaped chocolates) or make time for some self-care (slap on a face-mask and tidy up your trotters.)

Me? I’ll be popping over to Asda for some heart shaped crumpets and sharing the love by treating my beautyblender to a new home (egg cups are the perfect practical storage solution and my new obsession).

So, what will you be doing?

Roald Dahl on Beauty

“If a person has ugly thoughts, it begins to show on the face. And when that person has ugly thoughts every day, every week, every year, the face gets uglier and uglier until you can hardly bear to look at it.

A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely”.
